Description

Sleeps up to 4 persons (plus room for 2 additional persons on the floor). The yurt includes a double wide plywood bunk-bed; wood stove and firewood (stacked in a woodshed a short walk from the yurt); 2 chairs and a table; bear proof food storage locker; and deck. The latrine is located a short walk from the yurt. Nearby water source is available (Eagle River via an access trail at the Rapids Camp designated camping area- just a short walk beyond the yurt along the Crow Pass Trail), but the water should be purified before drinking.

Location and access

Approximately 1.7 miles from the Nature Center along the Iditarod/Crow Pass Trail. The yurt is accessible by foot year round. No bicycles or motorized vehicles are allowed. Strollers and sleds are allowed.

The yurt is secured by a lock box located next to the door and is accessible only by permit holders with a valid number. The permit number is the combination to the lock and your only access into the yurt. Please take along this receipt and remember your number. This number is regularly changed to ensure security. To gain access to the yurt, individually press each number (numbers correspond with roman numerals on lock, for example: II = 2, IV = 4) and press to lift out (key inside). To return the key enter the combination, press button and lift.

1. It is unlawful to use the cabin without a paid reservation/permit.

2. It is unlawful to cut standing or live trees in the area. Firewood will be provided. Only dead or down wood may be used for fires. Please use firewood sparingly to conserve a precious resource.

3. Littering is illegal. Please pack out what you pack in.

4. The discharge of explosive devices, such as fireworks, is strictly prohibited within the park.
