Schools and youth groups may choose from the following programs, or from the Junior Naturalist topics listed under our Calendar.   • Alaska Animals (optional: include tracking, mammal skull collection)
  • Bear and Moose Safety
  • Insects (optional: catch & release butterflies) also available as slideshow
  • Wetlands/ stream-side Ecology (catch & release macroinvertebrates)
  • Salmon cycle
  • Birds (overview, or focus on particular species or migration)
  • Wildflowers (available off-season as slideshow)
  • Uses of Native Plants (available off-season as slideshow)
  • Snow studies
  • Winter survival (optional: build a shelter, fire)
  • Animal winter adaptations (optional: snowshoes for 30 students)
  • Feeding Winter Birds (optional: make bird treats)
  • Craft programs, such as miniature birchbark canoes or nature printing
  • Scout-specific badges, such as the Forester badge, Conservation badge, etc.
