Trail Conditions for: Wednesday, 11/12/2025

*We have snow coverage on the trails, but expect many rocks and roots to still be exposed. We do not suggest using a sled yet for hauling gear to the cabin/yurts.

Rodak Trail:   Covered in ~8" of fresh, powdery snow.  Good for hiking.

Albert Loop Trail: OPEN as of 11/10/2025.  Trail has about 8" of snow.  Still some roots and rocks poking through.  Great for hiking, bring the rock skis if you want to try skiing.  Use the bypass trail to avoid possible trail flooding on the section of Albert Loop trail that parallels closely to Eagle River.

Historic Iditarod Trail/Crow Pass Trail (Nature Center Trailhead to Echo Bend only):   Fresh snow, ~8" as of 11/7.  This is our first snow of season, so there is no base - expect rocks and bare spots to still be present on the trail.

Dew Mound Trail:  Fresh snow, ~8" as of 11/7. This is our first snow of season, so there is no base - expect rocks and bare spots to still be present on the trail.   Dew Mount Trail is skinnier, "rootier" and rockier than our other trails.

Rapids Cutoff Trail:  Fresh snow, ~8" as of 11/7. This is our first snow of season, so there is no base - expect rocks and bare spots to still be present on the trail.

Mountain Meadow Cutoff Trail:  Fresh snow, ~8" as of 11/7. This is our first snow of season, so there is no base - expect rocks and bare spots to still be present on the trail.

Dog owners: Please remember to keep your dog(s) on a leash on the Rodak Trail, Albert Loop Trail and first mile of the Dew Mound and Iditarod Trail. Please be responsible trail users and pickup after your dogs. Bags are available at the trail head sign at the ERNC.

Crow Pass Trail

This time of year, expect significant snow up in Crow Pass.  Winter travel on the Crow Pass/ Girdwood side of the trail is not recommended due to the trail traversing through avalanche terrain.  To get an idea of how much snow could be in Crow Pass, check out the Alyeska Webcam for Glacier Bowl Express (they are about the same elevation).  There is currently snow up at the top of Glacier Bowl Express. You can also check out avalanche reports and conditions when they start reporting on the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center.  The last ~1 miles stretch of road to the trailhead is NOT MAINTAINED in the winter.

On the Eagle River side of the trail, conditions are pretty good.  Fresh snow, ~8" as of 11/7. This is our first snow of season, so there is no base - expect rocks and bare spots to still be present on the trail.  Eagle River water levels appear to be about normal for this time of year (on the low side).  The new Perch trail reroute is finished and is pretty awesome.

Remember: this time of year your daylight hours are shorter (pack a headlamp) and temps are dropping close to freezing!  The trail is not marked past Echo Bend on the Nature Center side, so if it's snow covered, it can be hard to follow.

These are reports from trail users. We cannot and do not guarantee trail conditions on any given day/time. Trail conditions change daily, especially the river depth at the ford site. Be prepared for anything from knee to waist deep. If you are not comfortable crossing, turn around and go back the way you came. You should be prepared for any kind of weather (rain, snow, sun, fog) and wildlife (bears/moose). Always carry a map for navigation, the trail is not marked.
